Ok, so I decided to not go with the Alienware brand, instead, I'm getting the Sony Vaio that I've been drooling over for about a year or so now. Actually, I've kinda been drooling over the brand in general, but I configured a comparable model. The real reason I like the Vaio better? I can get it in blue, instead of with gills on the cover. And I LOVE the shade of blue. Hey, if I'm spending that much money on a computer, it's gonna be a damned pretty computer! And a new printer/scanner/copier, since the printer costs $100, and if purchased with a new computer, I get $100 rebate for any of their printers...ok then!

But the fuckers won't let me finance it, because I have no credit rating to speak of. I can afford to pay for it all upfront, but I've got to move money from one account to another (translation-my checking account with Charter One is about to die, which is fine by me, since they kinda really tick me off). I've sent out a couple bill payments, so I can't close the Charter One account quite yet, not without causing some other problems, so I'll probably just yank out what I need and close the account in a couple weeks. The one perk about my Charter One account was that my debit card is pretty. My National City one is kinda ugly. I am such a dork. At least I can fucking check my accounts online at National City...sheesh.

But since I had to do all this via the internet in my research lab, I set up another couple experiments to run. I might be approaching overachiever in this lab-I've been in here at 7pm when Dr. Obare has called looking for her post-doc student. She told everyone else that they need my work ethic, so we can churn out some papers. With all the competition in antimony porphyrin complex research, this could take awhile (BIG sarcasm tag goes here-seriously, I've got two papers that I'm basing my work on, both by this one dude in Germany).

Thermo has been cancelled for the next week. Dr. Schreiber's mother has been really sick lately, so he flew down to FL to be with her. As much as I adore not having thermo class, I really wish it was a reason that wasn't this. That just sucks. And since next week's spring break...a long time to try to understand the thermo homework. Too bad we're about to have make-up classes on Fridays-I was really enjoying my 3-day weekends too.

I brought my cute boyfriend to the lab with me-he wanted to see where I work, and is a big friend of the computers with internet. He just totally made my day by asking me about these little white pill-shaped things lying around. I demonstrated the use of the little white pills by putting it on a stir-plate and turning the power on and watching it revolve. :D Who else never used magnetic stir bars? If only he hadn't asked about what reactions we do in those little pills. I'll be amused by this for awhile, but it's probably equally amusing when I say just about anything related to cars.

Guess I'm about done for now. I'll most likely be living in the lab for the next two weeks...I can make the stuff, now what do I get to do? My advisor is out sick too...
