Work sucked. More on that later, maybe.

Surprise! visit from Scott today. Slept through his phone calls, but we went out to dinner, was a great evening.

The evening got better. Jenni Dye, a friend of mine, has been running for county board. SHE WON. So after Scott left, I remembered it was election day and checked Twitter and it had just EXPLODED with news of her victory. So we got up, put our pants back on, and went to her victory party.

Now I need to wind down and drag my ass back into bed because I've got another early shift tomorrow. Really don't want to go to work tomorrow. Kind of hoping my boss wasn't fired today. Work has been full of corporate management bullshit lately.

Unconfirmed, but it's now flying around Twitter that we've collected about half the signatures needed to toss my state's governor out on his ass.

It's been two weeks. We have until the tenth of January.

Holy. Shit.

I think I may need to just mail in my petitions I've got with their one signature (my husband's). This state's got it covered. They're gonna have the petitions submitted before Christmas if this keeps up.

Nice going Wisconsin!

We did get a LOT of practice earlier this year during the Senate recalls but there is a bit of a major difference here. Madison and Milwaukee get to sign and vote on this one too. There's at least 400,000(if not more)of us right there with a bit of a grudge.

I'm home for a bit of a break before I go and work a three hour shift(WHY?!) at Michael's later this morning. Then I'm off until Tuesday. And my feet might get a chance to recover. I am so tempted to buy a foot bath, but after tomorrow, I don't think I'm really going to need it. I can be on my feet for 8 hours at a time and not be too gone-my shoes aren't great, but they're not horrible either. It's the 15 hours per day, and more than one day in a row, that are doing me in.

Wasn't kidding when I said local politics had taken over my life and that my time on LJ was mostly being spent elsewhere.

Still, that's awesome and I do feel great for that post having even been made. Because I am sitting here thinking I'm not doing enough.

It's Memorial Day weekend.

And here's something awesome to go remember. Or be reminded of it even happening in the first place(well-pre WWII). In other news, while I love history and find it fascinating, I didn't learn a fucking thing in any of my history classes and I've had to learn most of the good stuff on my own.

Women in Uniform, 1799-present

I planted my tomatoes, except the two Romas. I also clobbered my knee with the shovel and I think I'm really dehydrated, because the whole ordeal kind of wiped me out.

I am in the mood to watch Star Wars. Where on the fucking planet did my fucking tapes get to?! They've been missing for awhile now, and I'm fairly pissed off about this.

Following Iowa, Vermont has legalized gay marriage.

The governor being a dick wasn't enough to stop it either. :) I was honestly not expecting the veto to be overridden.

From the article:
He had called the issue of gay marriage a distraction during a time when economic and budget issues were more important.

Way to hide what a bigoted self-righteous ass you are behind the shitty economy dude. God knows treating people like human beings is definitely a secondary concern now instead of when things don't suck. /sarcasm

And my portable greenhouse arrived this afternoon. I can use it when that yucky white shit outside goes away.

I need to get some sleep...I didn't watch my caffeine consumption too well yesterday. :\

Whoa.

Gay marriage is now legal in...IOWA.

This is beyond awesome. I thought Michigan or Wisconsin, or possibly Illinois(you know, the more liberal states), would be the first midwestern state to do this. Go Iowa! You are more awesome than I gave you credit for ! :p
