I think this is the BBC's list of 100 books everyone should read at some point in their lives, bold the ones you've made it through. I think the BBC said the average person would only read six on this list. I did a lousy C/P job from [livejournal.com profile] pintsizeninja =P

I like to read. Got 34. As listed. =P  )

I start the good drugs tomorrow.

In the meantime...

Comment to this entry (if you want to) and I will give you a letter. Name 5 songs you love beginning with that letter.

[livejournal.com profile] sgflutegirl gave me the letter M.

1. Magic-The Cars
2. Momentary Thing-Something Happens
3. Mind Games-Triumph
4. Mountie Song-The Arrogant Worms
5. Mighty Wings-Cheap Trick

I haven't felt like inflicting the boring details of my personal life on you guys. But my sprained finger is doing much better, and I don't have a lasting hangover.

Jason's employers are apparently dying to meet me (not sure why), and since I lost the ability to drive my truck (don't ask unless you're giving me a rocket launcher), I have the company car. I have been very nicely asked to not crash it.

Meme time. )

Well, gotta go check the mail (on FOAD watch again, lucky me), then heading out to Janesville for a bit. Have to dig out my hoodie, it's in the low 60's today. Too cold for early September in my opinion. And everyone else's too. I hope.
meimichan: (Default)
Need a rocket launcher for my truck.

The clutch went. Again. Sprained my finger trying to shift it. Fucking wonderful.

Jason thinks he can get a car loan. Let's hope so, or we're really fucked. I can't drive it anymore.

I will not cry, I will not cry, I will not cry...

*SIGH*

Talked to my mom on Friday, she's getting released on Monday. She's doing a lot better. I think I'll call her again today, try to be nice that way. I'll definitely be leaving my brother alone.

Spent a few hours yesterday meeting up w/ [livejournal.com profile] theatrophyannie for lunch and a walk around Olbritch Botanical Gardens. It was a nice change of pace/distraction. Then I got home, took a nap, got a bad headache, and wished I'd stayed in bed.

Actually, I kinda wish I'd been asleep for all of last week. REALLY wish just about everything that happened last week hadn't. It was a shit week.

I hate typing left-handed.

ETA: Jason's been pre-approved for a car loan. Forgot how advanced the internets were these days. =P So that's good for us at least. =)
meimichan: (Default)
Or just a mind-numbing distraction for awhile. =P

Most of you I've not met in real life I've met in a fandom community of some sort, so this shouldn't be too hard. Those of you I HAVE met in RL should know me well enough here. =P

Give me a fandom and I will:
Name My Favourite Character
Name my major ship for that fandom
Give you my favourite relationship in the fandom
Give you my least favourite relationship in the fandom
What I think was the best thing the creator(s)/writer(s) did in the verse
What I think was the worse thing the creator(s)/writer(s) did in the verse
Five things that keep me interested in the verse.

So I'm doing a meme. Oh why the fuck not. Swiped from [livejournal.com profile] pintsizeninja

*If you’ve been tagged, you must write your answers in your own lj and replace any question that you dislike with a new question.
*Tag eleven people. Don’t refuse to do that. Don’t tag who tagged you.

I'M BREAKING THE RULES, OKAY. I REFUSE TO TAG PEOPLE. SO THERE. (yeah. me too.)
There be a meme here. )
meimichan: (Fuck Anemia)
Just in case I haven't bitched enough...anemia sucks.

I just realized that while my sleep schedule is currently fucked, even when I sleep eight hours in a row, I am needing at least a 4-hour nap every damn day, and have for the past week or so, just to pretend to stay functional.

God damn. I am so fucking wiped out. I just woke up and I wanna go back to bed for the rest of the month, give or take a few days.

I HATE THIS! Those people must be right on suppressing bad memories, because while I remember anemia sucking, I don't remember being this knock-out dead tired just as a matter of fact. And it's constant right now. This is so miserable.

Oh, I woke up early to a FOAD received via phone call, then had an hour-long phone interview where one of the questions I got asked was to explain how an HPLC works...you know, this may sound odd, but while I'm sure on some level I know how it works, I haven't needed to know the damn details of that since I was an undergrad. Most places I've worked don't care if I know how an instrument works, they want to know if I know how to work it! Still...they kept me on the phone for an hour. I then went to the garden and fled almost instantly due to serious amounts of mosquitoes. I'm gonna be covered in angry itchy welts. Picked one yellow cherry tomato (yum), noticed a couple of my black plum tomato plants seemed to have not made it(suck), my amana orange plant snapped under its own weight(more suck) and that I'm most likely going to be drowning in black krims. Ehh, it'll work. Also, I have a squash plant with a fruit on it! YAY! One of my squashies lived! I'm not sure which one it is...I think it's my red kuri. Well...time will tell. =P
meimichan: (Garden veggies)
Gardening season is almost over, and there have been some successes and some epic, epic failures.

The epic failures. )

Onto the successes! )

The surprise:
Whoever had the plot before me planted garlic last fall. It all more or less survived, and I'm going to go harvest it when I get a chance this week-probably tomorrow. Not sure if I'm going to replant it-it'll be in a different location if I do though, it's in the way of my tomatoes at the moment. =P I usually cook from the pre-minced garlic that you can buy in jars, but I've been told that homegrown garlic is something else, so I'm looking forward to giving it a try. I do have a garlic press, but I don't recommend it. Just get a large knife and a cutting board.

For next year...already looking at seeds! =P I'm planning on more tomatoes and beans. I really don't eat leafy greens a whole lot, nor do they store well, so I probably won't grow as much of those, but I would like some. I did love raw peas before the plants died, I'm going to plant more this week with some spinach. I'll probably plant more tomatoes next year, I've got 1.5 rows, I'll probably go for a full 2 rows next year. I didn't have any cherry tomatoes this year(thanks you stupid greenhouse), so I'm going to get some seeds and grow them myself. I like having them to snack on throughout the season. Plus I'll have tried orange, purple, and yellow tomatoes this year, gotta try some more colors! =P Gonna try more on squash and cukes, cause I do wanna try pickling those and I also like them. =P Hoping to get some peppers and eggplants going-my seedlings just didn't do that well, and by the time I thought of transplants, uhh...it was too late. Not sure I'm going to try root vegetables. I don't dislike them, I just like other things more, and I am rubbish at growing them. Depending on how the leeks taste and get used, I'll likely grow those again. Well...I've got plenty of time to worry about it.
meimichan: (Detroit)
1. Go to Google (or Yahoo) and type, "You know you're from (your state) when...."
2. Cut and paste the list.
3. Bold or italicize the items that apply to you.

Now I lived in 4 regions of Michigan over 20 years, so I think I can give a decent sample here. =P

You Know You're From Michigan When... )
meimichan: (Psych: Lassiter rocko's fortune cooke)
Tis the new season, so I wrote recaps of Psych and White Collar. One I loved and the other...I did not. I don't think I'm going to post them to the communities. I said a few things in one recap that stand a good chance of hitting a few nerves.

Got the brush-off from Qdoba today. I really really REALLY suck at this. I seriously do not know what the fuck else I can do.

Got another office interview at Aerotek tomorrow. I'd try to think positively, but over the past 3.5 years, this particular agency has done nothing but waste my time. I've already done the office interview with this branch back in December. I have to give Jason a ride to Janesville tomorrow so I can have the car, but he'll have the company car for the weekend. Joy of joys. I will be running on coffee.

I can't remember the last time I slept more than five hours in a row. I seem to just catnap whenever I need it.

In other fun news, I fucked up my right foot sometime on Tuesday. Walking's a bitch.
meimichan: (Psych: Lassiter pissed)
If you've got a few minutes of spare time, could you go here, leave a comment telling Team Lassie how awesome they are?

Seriously, we could use the points, Team Jules beat the stuffing out of us last phase. It was embarrassing. We were a distant second place.

But come on, help Team Lassie get off to a strong head start!

I'll give you cookies. Or....cheesecake slice?

ETA: WE'RE IN LAST PLACE HELP A TEAM OUT!

Bad luck and misfortune will infest your pathetic soul for all eternity. xD

Bonus points for those who get the reference. Except [livejournal.com profile] startracer, cause I know he gets it. ^_~

I've been unemployed for two long fucking miserable years. I would take ANYTHING at this point, okay?

I will say that I'd probably have stuck out the jobs that made me fucking miserable a bit longer a few years ago if they had paid well...but they were miserable jobs with miserable pay. Long run, I vote enjoyable job w/ lower pay.

I normally don't hit up the writer's block questions, but there's two in a row. I had more fun thinking of loathsome TV characters to kill off.
meimichan: (Bones: Booth Brennan hug)
[Error: unknown template qotd]

Daisy Wick from Bones. Holy fuck, she made seasons 4 and 5 more annoying just by existing.

I have no idea how she'd go, but god dammit, she'd go. I'm thinking a sulfuric acid bath.

I don't hate Daisy nearly as much as Piz from Veronica Mars(I don't hate any fictional character as much as I hate Piz), or Shaw from Chuck, but VM is off the air, and I'm pretty sure Shaw is never going to be seen again on Chuck, while I am still very much in danger of having Daisy grace my TV screen again in the fall.

My favorite show currently airing is actually Psych, but I like all the characters on that one, so had to go with another one. =P
meimichan: (VM: sad Logan)
I have officially hit rock bottom.
meimichan: (Chem: chemistry is fun)
I've received two interview invites in the last 24 hours. O_O

So, guess what I'll be doing, aside from panicking and seeing if I have anything that fits the description of business casual(short answer, no, and I'm not wearing my lab-appropriate clothes; they look like shit). I usually go in business formal. I think someone made up the term business casual to confuse the living fuck out of me. It worked.

Jason's been banished to help desk for tomorrow, so at least I get the truck for tomorrow's interview. I'm bussing it up on Monday's.

Oh, tomorrow's is for Boumatic/PureLabs, and Mondays is for...THE STATE. =P They're both over on the east side, just off 51. Actually...really close to each other. Great, at least I won't get lost on Monday? When I likely will be using the goddamn bus?

Off to prep!

Something's gotta pan out soon. PLEASE something pan out soon?
meimichan: (Default)
It's Memorial Day weekend.

And here's something awesome to go remember. Or be reminded of it even happening in the first place(well-pre WWII). In other news, while I love history and find it fascinating, I didn't learn a fucking thing in any of my history classes and I've had to learn most of the good stuff on my own.

Women in Uniform, 1799-present

I planted my tomatoes, except the two Romas. I also clobbered my knee with the shovel and I think I'm really dehydrated, because the whole ordeal kind of wiped me out.

I am in the mood to watch Star Wars. Where on the fucking planet did my fucking tapes get to?! They've been missing for awhile now, and I'm fairly pissed off about this.
meimichan: (Chem: chemistry is fun)
BRB, DEAD OF LULZ!

Holy crap on a stick, I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard in my life. I woke up Jason I was laughing so loud. I'm still fucking crying from laughing so hard! Just the thread I linked to though-the actual source article is kind of rage-inducing, but the thread, oh my god, it's an atheist chemist's dream come true!

I'm gonna screencap that and hang it on the wall.

Quit judging me!

I have a job interview at 1pm.

My makeup and hair is going to freaking melt off. Cannot WAIT until tomorrow when this weather goes far far away. Hopefully.

In the meantime...I'm sitting here looking ridiculous in a suit and makeup doing some last-minute prep.

I hate interviews. Still...gotta keep trying. This one's in Verona, and 2nd shift, which for a one-car family, yeah, this will be FUN. >_<

Well, cheers.
meimichan: (stressed out: bang head here)
And to put some more icing on the cake that is my life, I was reading the news on my computer, when the monitor got a bit fuzzy, the computer kind of gave off some feedback, the whole thing then froze up, so I did a hard-restart...and now nothing works. Oh, the fan spins, the power light and hard drive lights come on, but it's not running at all. Jason thinks I either need a new monitor light...or a new computer. He really didn't sound too hopeful when I called with this latest development.

Well...it's four years old, I knew this day was coming. :( I hope we have enough money. My computer's kind of crucial for job searching. I can probably pick up something for cheap. Ish. I hope.
