So just had a phone interview.

I'm sure I've done worse. Helps that the person interviewing me had no remote fucking clue about anything science-related. Does not help that she was watching TV while interviewing me.

I hate everyone.

Home stretch.

I am going to be so on edge for the next seven days.

If you see me around, just drag me into a bar and I'll get the beer and be calm for at least a half hour. I suppose ice cream or baked goods with chocolate will have a similar calming effect.

Home stretch. It's almost over. Win or lose, it's almost over.

Oh I get a new computer tonight but strangely I'm more concerned with state politics. It's been a long six months.

I hope we win.

Stuck home with a bad bout of IBS today. This has better go away tomorrow, I have plans and they involve being at the Labor Temple. I had planned to be there today too, but the constant pooping kind of fucks with the volunteering. Sorry if that's TMI. I have to live with it. :P

God damn, is this thing working yet?

That was really fucking annoying.

Thank you Soviet Russia for the DDoS attack. Really, very much appreciated. Assholes.

Not sure if I have anything really worth posting yet, but I really wanted to re-read some fics over the past few days.

Plus I missed all of you.

Good luck on your big move and new job [livejournal.com profile] startracer!

Woke up to the news that Oslo was bombed.

Have heard from my friend in Norway, she's on a farm a few hours away from Oslo and all right.

Thoughts going out to Norway. The news I'm getting from there has been horrible. Government building blown up downtown, followed by the news that a shooter is on an island that has a camp for politically involved kids for the Labour Party. Absolutely horrible.

Well, election nights. More accurately, one down, eight to go, in terms of contested senate seats in WI.

Dave Hansen held onto his seat by a fairly large margin.

There were less GOP voters than there were signatures on Hansen's recall petitions.

Fraud was suspected at the time the petitions were filed for all the Democratic senators, as much as 30%, but the GAB didn't investigate.

I mean, yes, Hansen ended up having to run against VanderLeest because Nygren, the real candidate, didn't make it onto the ballot because he's fucking stupid and VanderLeest is a criminal which might've had voters sit at home. In the grand scheme of things this was an easy victory, but still...they couldn't turn out enough voters to at least match the recall petition signatures?

And as always, more bitching about the weather. Turn the fucking oven off out there already, damn it!

I am being followed by politicians on Twitter.

Holy shit, what did I DO?!

:P

I'll try a post with substance some other time. It's not happening today or tomorrow.

Also, FUCK it's hot! It's WAY TOO FUCKING HOT!

All the zombie Dems went down to a miserable shameful pathetic embarrassing defeat. Except District 10, which honestly was a bit closer than it should have been.

Still. The zombies lost!

Recall election primaries in WI today for the Democratic candidates running.

Hold me.

14 pounds of strawberries turned into:
-4 bags of frozen berries
-6 jars of strawberry-rhubarb jam
-6 jars of plain strawberry jam and the one burnt thumb that wasn't caused by a sparkler yesterday
-1 strawberry cheesecake, and that's one of the tastiest things I've ever eaten
-2 quarts of strawberries that will become booze, still in the freezer until I get some vodka

Had a decent weekend. We went to the Milwaukee Zoo on Sunday, and it was fairly crowded but still a lot of fun. I really need to clean off my camera's memory cards. I was shuffling them around..."This one's got 40 shots left!" *gets filled up* "Ok, this one's got 28 shots left!" Pain in the butt, but I'm a bit afraid of wiping my cards now after my last external hard drive crashed and took 2000+ pictures with it, so I do the external backup and photobucket. Which takes time. Ah well, I didn't have too many plans today.

Job interview in Chicago on June 29th!

In other news, got sicker last night and had issues with breathing.

I really want this job.

Oooh, guess those promised thunderstorms are about to happen.

I love Madison, but if I have to leave this city for Chicago...I can live with that. I love Chicago. That would be perfect timing too...just when I was starting to get to know locals in this area and had actually made a friend or two! Not that I'd be too far from Madison.

I'm exhausted and sunburned.

How're you?

Either Japan or the UK.

I've wanted to go to Japan ever since I studied the language, and I now watch a bit too much UK television and have made a decent amount of friends there.

The new store so far is HORRIBLE. They're different and do things differently from my old store, WHICH I WAS EXPECTING. However, I seem to be taken to task by each manager whenever I don't know how to do something or where something is kept and they then go off on a tangent going on in great detail how this is part of my job and I should know this and blah blah fucking blah. I swear to cow I'm going to just give them the phone number of my old store along with my old manager's names and have them call them up and tear them a new one for apparently not knowing how to train their employees or run their store.

In today's extra special bullshit...one of my co-workers hid my timecard. Which nearly made me late looking for it. This was in retaliation because while the entire morning crew was engaging in a spat of verbal abuse/teasing, I apparently asked if he was on crack. So I then got told off by the store manager for that. I told her that EVERYONE was teasing everyone at that time and if she was having that conversation with me, she'd damn well better be having it with everyone else, because all I was doing was trying to fit in with my new coworkers. I guess that's not allowed either. But I apparently deserved to be punished for that by getting my time card hidden, something ELSE I was raked over the coals for earlier this week. I didn't have my time card on Monday, it arrived in the mail Tuesday. I'd been led to believe it would arrive in the mail at my place, not the store, so I didn't know it was there on Tuesday and just wrote myself in on the sign-in sheet. For not psychically divining my timecard was there, I got an in-depth lecture on how we need to clock in and out and make sure we're on time. I. FUCKING. KNOW. THIS. ALREADY. Seriously, after that I was expecting to be told to make sure I wear clean underwear each day and wash my hands after using the bathroom. Just....I didn't know my goddamn card was there or would be arriving there after you guys ever so fucking VAGUELY just told me to watch the mail.

I'm not going to last long at this place if things don't improve DAMN soon. I did end up telling off my direct manager a bit this morning when she started going into her spiel over how I should know x and y and whatever, and she did apologize for it. I mean seriously...do they fucking think I had any fucking day in what I did or did not get trained in over in Middleton? Do I have any fucking say in what I'm supposed to do at my job in Janesville? Grow some fucking brain cells!

Day 100.

This is a check-in post.

Still here, still reading, have third abscessed tooth in four years because why the fuck not, am more or less functioning on painkillers and whiskey. Playing Mario RPG to distract myself from the pain, and am more or less perpetually hungry. And drunk. Mostly here to read fic. It's a good distraction at times.

Things aren't going so well. What else is new.

In case anyone's living under a rock (or maybe I'm on the internet too much), Osama Bin Laden was killed todayyesterday.

In the spirit of 9/11 and knowing and asking people where they were and what they were doing when they found out...

I was on Twitter hearing the news of Osama Bin Laden being killed a good few minutes before Celebrity Apprentice was rick-rolled for the president's announcement(icing on the fucking CAKE) that Osama Bin Laden had been killed. Some fun rumors flying in between hearing that a presidential address had been called. We(and by we I mean myself and all the other politicos I talk to and had been chatting with on Twitter) were wondering just what in the FUCK would cause a surprise presidential address to the nation fairly late on a Sunday night, because that's only a little bit unprecedented. Then the journalists started leaking tidbits. It was not related to Libya(and there's been a few big deaths in Libya recently too). It was related to national security. Then someone tweeted that the president was going to announce that Osama Bin Laden had been killed. That's about when it made the NYT website too.

I did not think I was going to spend my evening hearing that. Honestly, I didn't think I'd ever hear that news.

Who else doesn't give a remote fuck about the royal wedding?

I do not get it. I've not been a fan of weddings in general after working as a caterer for two years...but I really do not get it at all. And it's not just because I'm in the wrong country, a fair amount of my friends were all excited about it, and we didn't even get the day off.

In other news, the sun's out and I'd forgotten what it looked like. Was thinking of gardening but I'm thinking I'll put that off and give the ground a chance to dry out and go again on Sunday or Monday. I think I'd rather get out of the house for a few hours instead, maybe go for a hike around downtown or something. I haven't left home voluntarily in awhile.

I really wish I had a bike.

Hi. I'm still alive.

Just haven't had anything to say lately. Still around and reading.

Carry on.
meimichan: (RK: Misao)

I have got to find my goddamn card reader. Hard to participate if I can't upload pictures of my artwork or jewelry, which is what I have to offer.
