Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and occasionally New Year's Eve.

Mostly celebrate Christmas because my family did and I enjoy the traditions, plus seeing the lit tree in my living room makes me smile and remember a lot of the good times. We seemed to always make it a point of putting aside the bad times at Christmas and just relaxing and enjoying ourselves for a few days. Real life could wait.

Holiday love meme.

Use this one, other thread has too many comments

You guys still love me, right? ^_~

And I thought last year was bad, this year in many ways took the freaking cake. Some very good things happened this year too. It was a crazy one.

Unconfirmed, but it's now flying around Twitter that we've collected about half the signatures needed to toss my state's governor out on his ass.

It's been two weeks. We have until the tenth of January.

Holy. Shit.

I think I may need to just mail in my petitions I've got with their one signature (my husband's). This state's got it covered. They're gonna have the petitions submitted before Christmas if this keeps up.

Nice going Wisconsin!

We did get a LOT of practice earlier this year during the Senate recalls but there is a bit of a major difference here. Madison and Milwaukee get to sign and vote on this one too. There's at least 400,000(if not more)of us right there with a bit of a grudge.

I'm home for a bit of a break before I go and work a three hour shift(WHY?!) at Michael's later this morning. Then I'm off until Tuesday. And my feet might get a chance to recover. I am so tempted to buy a foot bath, but after tomorrow, I don't think I'm really going to need it. I can be on my feet for 8 hours at a time and not be too gone-my shoes aren't great, but they're not horrible either. It's the 15 hours per day, and more than one day in a row, that are doing me in.

This Thanksgiving, I am beyond thankful that I am too far away from my family to see them.

And for pie.

My two jobs are about to do me in.

I should be going to the doctor, I want to be downtown this morning, but overall....

I'm going to bed. Got tonight off, working for a few hours early Sunday morning. My manager at the toy store STILL doesn't have next week's schedule ready. >:( Awesome. I have to call tonight. I may reach through the phone and kill her if it's not ready tonight. This is beyond annoying.

I'm going to bed.

Had a great time in Chicago, thanks for all the congratulations. I really needed that day in Chicago, no matter how drop-dead exhausted I was at the end-I'd been awake for over 25 hours by the time we got home. I haven't been in this good a mood in months.

Unfortunately, my camera is hosed. It's still usable, but it does need to be replaced. There's a set of spots that show up in nearly every fucking photo I take, especially if it's outside and the background's a light color. It can be worked around, but it's also a serious pain in the ass. I may try getting it cleaned again, but the professional photographer I just chatted with said it's probably not fixable.

*sigh*

Heading off to Chicago for the day. YIPPEE!

I need to get out of here for awhile, apparently. Think we're going to drive to a metra station, then take the train the rest of the way in.

Not really going crazy with the planned activities. Our big planned activity is visiting Shedd Aquarium, and possibly having dinner at a nice-ish place. Lunch is probably going to be a hot dog, or something else close to that price range. I can't stand hot dogs unless it's a Chicago dog, I'm funny that way. Walking around and taking photos is a plan of mine too. We didn't see nearly enough of the Art Institute last time, but don't think we're gonna have time for two huge attractions like that, so if we've got time I'm thinking one of the smaller art museums. The photography museum is one I wouldn't mind seeing, think it's on the south end of the Loop.

One year ago today, Jason and I got married. It's been a crazy god-damn year, but not our marriage-that's been pretty damn stable. Only...one fight? Maybe two? Who knows. Love you sweetie! ♥

The (supposedly liberal) mainstream media is barely doing jack squat to cover this, so it's up to us to spread the word.  BOOST THE SIGNAL, PEOPLE.

I've been following this on Twitter and [livejournal.com profile] ontd_political and kinda sorta wishing I lived a little bit closer so I could participate. While the rest of me is thinking "hey, I spent a month freezing my ass off in Wisconsin protesting governmental bullshit, where the hell was everyone else?" But mostly the first one.

You go New York City.

Made salsa. Got a jar stuck min the sink drain. Took pictures. Got jar out of sink drain without breaking it, thank goodness.

Computer arrived. Hope this one isn't busted beyond all measure like the last one was.

Planning on a quiet evening at home. Putting off my planned haircut another few days.

Fighting Bob Fest tomorrow at the Alliant Energy Center. Plus a planned gathering with beer at the event.

Trying to get back into real life.

Hence the very boring stilted update.

ETA: More from real life. Just found out a friend of mine from graduate school died suddenly and unexpectedly from an embolism last Friday. Sipping something alcoholic and most likely being sad for the rest of the evening. ='(

My cat possibly needs to go to the vet.

I may possibly need to go to the doctor.

FML. I can barely afford both, let alone one.

I did discover that wine makes a dandy cough syrup. What?! The bottle had been open for awhile, I didn't want it to go off, so I drank the rest of it! And my cough got better! That might be a good enough reason to open another bottle, right?

I'd be getting intoxicated if I were taking regular drugs for the symptoms of this. I'll take tipsy and not coughing for the time being.

(my parents have 2 cats, are their cats just supposed to starve for the five days they're stuck there or something?)

I'd like a platter of cookies for that.

I must be starting to feel better, I nearly inhaled a bag of chips and Jason's making me some fried rice. My lungs still think breathing is difficult (ahh, Theraflu...cheers), but the severe nausea seems to have gone away for a bit, thank heavens. I am really hungry.

Because I could use some love. Or just some nice random good thoughts. Sorry my posting has been sucking here lately.

THE ANON OR NOT LOVE MEME

Just had my phone interview with Knolls. As much as I don't want to move to NY, I am intrigued and will accept an in-person if they offer. Albany looks like a nice area, I think I'd be happy there. A bit curious that it would be the third state capital I'd reside in. =P Think my interview went well. The lab manager's about to go on vacation and did tell me I probably wasn't going to hear anything until October. O_O Hiring would probably take a long time too, because the job requires security clearance. Suppose my mission of avoiding getting arrested has been a good thing so far. Well, that's better than Sherwin. They told me I'd hear in a couple of weeks, and it's now been over two months and nothing. *eyeroll*

I need to go grocery shopping tonight. First I'm going to finish cleaning the kitchen and hunt down some food. Then I'm going to finish watching S1 of Veronica Mars...and probably start on S2. Maybe.

I'm thinking of switching my mood theme out. Still love TG, but getting a bit tired of this one. Not sure if I ever uploaded a VM mood theme, but that's the one I'm in the mood for at the moment. That should kill an hour or two of boredom if I go that route. Or maybe a Sherlock mood theme, that could be good too. =P

Ok, borked code has been fixed.

2007-Veronica Mars. Thanks for making that a reality TV people, S3 was AWFUL.

These days I'm thinking Chuck and Psych. I don't watch much TV, but I spent S3 of Chuck snarking the living hell out of it because it was so bad and I tried snarking Psych but it was just bad enough to piss me off and make me stop watching, but not quite bad enough to need snarking. It was just....painful bad to watch, I guess.

These days the only TV shows airing that I follow at all are done by the BBC. I've clearly given up on American TV for the time being. =/

Taking a break from feeling like mental shit(I'm sure it's temporary) to bask in victory.

The last two recalled Dems held onto their seats without much of a fight.

This is further convincing me that the GAB really should have pursued those allegations of fraud on the submitted recall petitions. The people checking the petitions found proof of 30% fraudulent signatures, beyond enough to stop the elections even happening, and I think in all of the Dem races there were fewer voters for the GOP candidate than submitted signatures. That didn't happen on the Dem side for the recalled GOP candidates. If anything, we got WAY more people to vote for our candidates than signed the petitions.

Not much we can do now except to keep up the momentum. Walker's not eligible for recall until January. I think we're going to try recalling Gableman while we're at it. Not sure if we're going to go after more senators, since the ones who got elected in 2010 will also be eligible then as well. I kinda doubt it. Think we'll just go for the big douche in office.

So all that public anger against the Dems for fleeing to Illinois? Not seeing it. After all, they could only get enough signatures against 3 of the 8 eligible for recall, and the three who did have elections held onto their seats without difficulty.

This is all [livejournal.com profile] sgflutegirl's fault. =P A little disturbed that I'm slightly more Slytherin than Gryffindor, but whatever. I didn't list a preference, but I did think I'd end up in Ravenclaw.

I need to re-read these books. It's been a long time. In the middle of Lies My Teacher Told Me at the moment. Maybe I'll give fiction a try after that.

Your result for The Sorting Hat: A Comprehensive Harry Potter Personality Assessment [Test/Quiz]...

Ravenclaw

61% Ravenclaw, 57% Hufflepuff, 40% Slytherin and 38% Gryffindor!

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,

if you've a ready mind,

Where those of wit and learning,

Will always find their kind;

The cardinal traits of Ravenclaw are intellect, wit and openness to experience. They are the most introverted house of the four. Ravenclaws are more likely to prefer small gatherings of like-minded individuals and require recooperation after stressful social interaction. These individuals are intuitive creatures, the quintessential researchers. They lack the stubborn, strict, and rule-abiding qualities that would inhibit intellectual growth—one can't be too set in their ways if they are to be open to exploring new ideas and paths of thought. In contrast to Slytherin and Gryffindor, Ravenclaws in general are much more emotionally stable. Their reactions seem dampened compared to the sometimes dramatic responses of the other houses—they're much less likely to get offended, they're more open to criticism, not particularly argumentative and interested in hearing different points of view. They can at times seem to be less interested in people and more interested in their own inner world, and appear to be disconnected from the rest of humanity.

Ambition is secondary to them. Although they may strive to excel in school, knowledge and self-enrichment is the primary goal as opposed to simply wanting good marks. If they do happen to strive for excellence, it is because it fits with their other goals, not out of a desire to be superior or the best. Due to their intuitiveness and willingness to listen, Ravenclaws can be empathetic and make good advisors. They should generally leave leadership roles to people who are more extraverted and who would enjoy them more, however.

For the curious... )

In fun news, apparently the national media's going to take over my city again. Honestly, not sure why. I guess we started in Madison, we'll finish it in Madison? None of the state elections are happening in Madison.
